:: I'd like any info on a Gretch Diamond Anniversary guitar model#6125 ser#10241. Primarily age and original price.Hi. I just looked at a model #6124 today. According to Gruhn's Guide To Vintage Guitars, this model should be a 1962,based on the color and seriel number. However,it is stated in the guide that Gretch seriel numbers are not very reliable. It lists your model(#6125) as being a smoke green color, but the seriel number doesn;t match other information given. It states that the Anniversary model was manufactured from 1958 through 1970.
Your number indicates that it was made in 1954. See what they mean about seriel numbers? If what I looked at today is truly a '62,one might suspect your's may be a '63. The one I looked at was also a single pickup, and the picture in the book of the pickup (a G with an arrow through it) indicates what they call a low end model. I have no information on price.
I hope this info helps and doesn't confuse the issue! Good luck,Mark. According the the serial number 20755, this guitar was built in 1956. Probably all Gretsch's with serial numbers 0 were all built in 1956.1949 to 1965 Gretsch Serial numbers are stamped in INK on the inside, visible through the sound holes or on the Gretsch label.anyway, your guitar.

Gretsch Serial Number Starting With U
Locate the serial number. Pre-1976 Conrad guitars usually have serial numbers on the metal neck plate, which is on the back of the guitar, where the neck meets the body. Unfortunately these numbers didn't indicate the year but only served to track the warranty.Determine the type of electromagnetic pickups the guitar has if the serial number is on the neck plate.
Vintage Gretsch Serial Numbers
Single-coil, trapezoid-face pickups are from the mid- to late 1960s, and larger single- and dual-coil pickups are from the early 1970s. Regular-size humbucking pickups and more Stratocaster-like single coils are from the early to mid-1970s.Determine if the guitar was made after 1976 to 1978. If the serial number is somewhere other than the neck plate, the guitar was probably made after 1976. Production of Conrad guitars stopped in 1978.
